Peru: Machu Picchu celebrates first year as New 7 World Wonder




A tribute to the earth, gastronomic festivals, expositions, and a panel forum named "Machu Picchu, Wonder of the World", will be carried out today to celebrate the first anniversary of the election of the Inca citadel as one of the new Seven Wonders of the Modern World.The anthropologist Jorge Flores Ochoa, the head of Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary, Fernando Astete, the historian Jorge Escobar, and Abraham Valencia, will participate in the event organized by the Regional Bureau of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) from Cuzco.Dircetur-Cusco invited university colleges and graduated students, official tourist guides and the general public to participate in this meeting.Registration is completely free at the site of this institution and certificates will be handed out to the participants. The event will start at 9 am (14:00 GMT) at the auditorium of the Museum of the Inca city of Cuzco.In adidtion, Dircetur-Cusco asked organizations, enterprises and handicraft artisans of this department to participate in the Second Agricultural Interregional Artisan Fair "Seeding Friendship", which will take place in Lima on July 20-21.
